How long will your RV inspection take? Well, it depends! A few things factor into the time required:

Type of inspection: A basic safety inspection might only take 2-3 hours. But a full pre-purchase inspection, especially on a large Class A motorhome with all the bells and whistles, could take 8-10 hours.
The RV itself: A small camper van will naturally take less time than a massive motorhome with multiple slide-outs.

Any issues we find: If we uncover problems that need further investigation, it’ll add a bit of time.

New RV: Before Taking Delivery: Ideally, you should schedule the inspection before you take delivery of the new RV from the dealership. This allows you to identify any issues that need to be addressed by the dealer before you finalize the purchase.

Within Warranty Period: If you’ve already taken delivery, schedule the inspection as soon as possible, and definitely within the manufacturer’s warranty period. This helps ensure any factory defects or issues are documented and can be repaired under warranty.

Used RV:

Before Finalizing the Purchase: Schedule the inspection before you sign any paperwork or make a final payment on a used RV. This gives you the opportunity to negotiate repairs or a lower price based on the inspection findings.

ASAP After Initial Viewing: If you’re seriously considering a used RV, schedule the inspection soon after your initial viewing, especially if it’s a popular model or in high demand. This prevents someone else from buying it before you have a chance to get it inspected.

For insurance reasons, we do not test drive the RV. We recommend having the seller demonstrate the RV’s drivability before the inspection.
